systemic, selective, emulsifiable concentrate herbicide
Trimax E is a systemic, selective, emulsifiable concentrate herbicide for the control of woody plants and broadleaf weeds in forestry, grass pastures and industrial areas.
Trimax E contains triclopyr is an auxin mimic or synthetic auxin type herbicide. This kind of herbicide kills the target weed by mimicking the plant growth hormone auxin (indole acetic acid), and when administered at effective doses, causes uncontrolled and disorganized plant growth that leads to plant death. Triclopyr is a very old compound which has been used worldwide for decades with great success and continues to provide reliable selective woody weed control.
Trimax E can be volatile, and care should be taken with the application. The potential to volatilize increases with increasing temperature, increasing soil moisture, and decreasing clay and organic matter content It is particularly effective at controlling woody species with cut-stump, foliar or basal bark treatments. It has virtually no impact on grasses.
Trimax E breaks down relatively quickly in soils. It is mainly broken down by microbes with a half-life ranging from 8 to 46 days depending on soils and microbial activity. It can be considered benign to non-target organisms such as bees which are likely to be absent near application target in any case.
Trimax E comes in the ester form of triclopyr which is best for penetrating bark and leaves and can be used for foliar, cut stem, and basal bark applications – very versatile. Over so many years, still one of the most reliable woody weed herbicides on the market!
It is effective as a foliar application on Silver wattle (Acacia dealbata), American bramble (Rubus cuneifolius), Bugweed (Solanum mauritianum), Bluegum (Eucalyptus grandis), Mauritius thorn (Caesalpinia decapetala). These are just some of many species which are very effectively controlled by Trimax E.
