soil-applied suspension concentrate herbicide

Rangefinder Flo is a soil-applied suspension concentrate herbicide with long residual action for the control of trees and shrubs in natural pastures and rangeland. Rangefinder Flo is easily absorbed through roots and translocated to all other parts of the plant. It produces its effect by blocking photosynthesis, the process by which plants receive light from the sun and convert it into energy. This causes the leaves to turn yellow and drop off the plant, ultimately causing the bush to starve to death.

Although Rangefinder Flo may be applied at any time of the year, treatments only become effective once sufficient rainfall has leached the chemical into the root zone where it can be taken up by the target plant. It is, therefore, recommended to apply just before, or at the beginning of the rainy season in order to obtain the best results. Rangefinder Flo is slow acting and susceptible species may take up to 24 months to die completely, depending on the soil texture, species and effective rainfall.

Treated plants should exhibit repeated yellowing, defoliation and regrowth with progressive die-back until death occurs. Therefore, a second application is not recommended within 24 months or until the symptoms of defoliation no longer occur.

Although it is not normally prone to excessive leaching, some product loss may occur

in conjunction with abnormally high rainfall on sandy soils which may influence efficacy due to product loss. Vachelia species (erubescens, karoo, mellifera, nigrescens, tortilis, nilotica ) as well as Dichrostachys cinerea ( Sickle bush ) are some of many species which are very effectively controlled by Rangefinder Flo.

Rangefinder Flo is broken down slowly in the soil through microbial degradation and should not cause harm to the environment if used according to label instructions and responsibly. As the bush dies back, more soil moisture is released to help grass cover develop and increase grazing capacity. Rangefinder Flo helps farmers restore the grass component, thereby increasing grazing capacity and subsequent overall land value.

For ease and accuracy of application, the use of an automatic dosing gun or a similar applicator is recommended. The applicator should be calibrated to deliver 2 mℓ at a time. Using the recommended mixture, apply one or more doses to the soil at the base of the stem of the target plant. When more than one application is applied, place the applications evenly around the base of the stem so as to increase the chances of effective root absorption. The recommended application rates are for soils with a clay content of 10-40%.

The residual action of Rangefinder Flo in the treated area may be reduced if fire occurs within 36 months of application.

Rangefinder Flo should not be used in areas near ornamental trees or other desirable plants, or where their roots are present, as it may leach into the root zone of these plants and cause

severe injury or death of these plants and trees.

Rangefinder Flo comes with an effective red pigment in the formulation for spray marking / visibility when applying the product and so that applicators can clearly see which plants have been sprayed and which still require treatment. This enhances the efficiency of the operation and avoids wastage.
